Assign to Component
The Assign to Component dialog box appears when you choose the Assign to Component... command. It allows you to confirm the assignment and to apply it recursively, if the object in question is a composite object.
Dialog fields and options
The dialog displays the type and name of the object that will be assigned to a new component, and also its current component. Depending on the type of object, a number of other options may also be enabled.
Attribute | Description |
---|---|
Assign this item to component newname | Select this option to assign only the current item and not its children, if any, to the indicated component. |
Assign this item and all its children to component newname | Select this option to assign the current item and recursively all its children to the indicated component. This option is available for composite items such as folders and registry keys. |
Apply to all remaining items | Check this box to apply the command to the current and all remaining items (if you are assigning a new component to more than one item); clear it to be prompted for each remaining item separately. |
Assign | Click this button to assign the current item to the indicated component; if you checked Apply to all remaining items, then all remaining items are also assigned without further confirmation. |
Skip | Click this button to skip assignment of the current item; if you checked Apply to all remaining items, then all remaining items are also skipped. |
Cancel | Click this button to cancel the assignment altogether; not further items will be assigned. Any previously assigned items remain assigned. |
