Select Icon from File

The Select Icon from File dialog appears when you browse for an icon in a number of situations. It is a slightly modified version of the standard Open Windows dialog and allows you to select an icon file and a specific icon from that file. The dialog has one extra field that previews the available icons in the selected file.

Dialog fields and options

Most of the fields in this dialog are standard Open fields. The layout of the dialog differs somewhat between Windows versions, but the general operation is the same as the Open dialog. There is one additional, unlabeled field that shows the icons in the currently selected file. You can select the desired icon by clicking on its image, then clicking Open to dismiss the dialog.
